Terms and Conditions

The agreement between you and Jakarta Machine Learning when you create an account and take part in the community.

1. About these terms

Jakarta Machine Learning (JML) is a community for people who learn, practise, and build with machine learning. These terms apply to the JML website and member space (the platform). By creating an account you agree to them, to our Privacy Notice, and, when you join community spaces such as the JML Discord forum or a JML event, to our Code of Conduct.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or at least 13 with the consent of a parent or guardian.
  • Use an email address you control and keep your password to yourself. One account is for one person.
  • You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it.
  • You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing [email protected].

3. Taking part

With an account you can register for events, support topic proposals, and, if you hold the relevant community role, propose topics or publish events. Please:

  • register only for events you intend to join, and cancel if your plans change so another member can take the seat;
  • give accurate information, and do not impersonate another person or organisation;
  • do not disrupt, probe, scrape, or overload the platform, or try to reach data or features that are not yours to use;
  • do not use the platform for spam, unlawful activity, or anything that breaks the Code of Conduct.

4. Content you share

You keep ownership of what you submit, such as topic proposals. You give JML permission to display and share it within the community for the purpose of running JML programs. Only submit content you have the right to share, and never share confidential information belonging to your employer or anyone else.

5. Programs that are not open yet

JML does not take payments on the platform at this time. Community Class, Product Showcase, and Mentorship are marked as coming soon. When paid programs open, the prices and any additional terms will be shown to you before you commit to anything.

6. Discord and other services

Community discussion happens on Discord, which is operated by Discord Inc. under its own terms and privacy policy. JML does not control Discord and is not responsible for it. Links to other third-party services are provided for convenience only.

7. Suspension and closure

We may limit, suspend, or close an account that breaks these terms or the Code of Conduct, or where needed to protect members or the platform. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

8. Availability and liability

JML is run by and for its community. We work to keep the platform available and accurate, but it is provided as it is, without guarantees. Talks, classes, and discussions share knowledge and opinion; they are not professional advice. To the extent the law allows, JML is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform or your participation in community activities.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When a change is material, we will ask you to review and accept the new version the next time you sign in. The date at the top of this page shows the version in force.
